The Giving Season is Upon Us! Why not consider a gift for the earth?
Dear friend of Ecology Ottawa,
You can feel it in the air, and see it in the fresh snow on the ground: the giving season is upon us.
In fact, for those of us who dream about a greener, more sustainable Ottawa, it's already here. I’m writing to tell you about a wonderful gift that has just been given to Ecology Ottawa. An anonymous supporter has contacted us with a very generous offer – a $7,000 donation to help fund next year’s programs for a greener Ottawa.
This is much needed money that will really help Ecology Ottawa to keep environmental issues and green thinking on the public agenda in 2008. But there’s just one catch.
In order to receive this donation, Ecology Ottawa needs to raise an additional $7,000 from other donors to match it. And that’s where you can help. I hope you'll consider making a donation to Ecology Ottawa right now, before the end of the year, so that we can kick off 2008 with a solid program to raise the voice of the community on the important green issues facing our city.
Let me tell you about just a few of the exciting initiatives that Ecology Ottawa’s volunteer organizers want to launch in the new year:
* Public panel on green transport: We are organizing a public panel for early 2008 that will bring together city councillors, heads of the transit and transportation committees, leading transportation experts, and city residents to debate the future of green transport in Ottawa.
* Ecology of Ottawa home guide: We are preparing a booklet on our local environment with information on what goes in and out of Ottawan households, and how citizens and the city can reduce their ecological footprint.
I know that as a friend of Ecology Ottawa you believe in building a greener and more sustainable city. That’s why your financial support at this time is very important. Your donation, together with an equal, matching amount from our anonymous benefactor, will support the work of our incredible volunteers and community organizers to make your voice heard on green issues in the city.
Remember, Ecology Ottawa has no administrative staff, and no office overhead. That means that 100% of your donation is put directly into our community mobilization to build a better, greener Ottawa.
