Weekly environmental choir rehearsals
Time and Date: Every Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm
Location: The Bronson Centre, room 222 (211 Bronson Ave)
Just Voices is Ottawa's only environmental and social-justice theme choir. We have been singing at events around the capital since 2003. We welcome new members at any time, and prior musical experience is not necessary. For more information go to www.justvoices.ca.

Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City Pilot: community pre-launch
February 3, 6 - 8 pm
Colonel By Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West
The Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) model is a proposal to UNESCO that is being pilot tested in Ottawa by a group of volunteers. They are creating an Ottawa BEC Website that will give voice to urban and rural sustainability efforts in our city. You are invited to a community pre-launch. Highlights include a website presentation, your feedback, light snacks and drinks, door prize. Rally to STOP URBAN SPRAWL

Join us! Some on City Council want to revisit the vote they already passed to stop urban sprawl. They will vote (AGAIN!) on Wednesday, February 24th. More urban sprawl will: hurt the environment, raise everyone's taxes , make transit less effective everywhere and make it more expensive to run the city. Let's tell council that this is our Ottawa and we have had enough of bad decision making. Come to the Rally and help get the message out.

The Kanata Environmental Network has a free, entertaining and informative seminar just for you. There will be a guest speaker (Michelle Lambert), information booths set up by the City of Ottawa on recycling, activities for the children, an interactive all-ages bin quiz, and a special guest, the founder of the Canadian recycling program, Diana Pilsworth. We'll show the City of Ottawa's short film 'Talkin Trash' that looks behind the scenes at Ottawa's Trail Waste Facility's recycling and garbage situation. Guided Snowshoe Excursion in Gatineau Park

We will meet in Parking Lot 15 (directions available at www.cpaws-ov-vo.org) - look for the CPAWS table that will be set up with information and free hot chocolate. Please bring your own thermos, snowshoes (we will try to have a few extra pairs on hand), and all necessary gear/clothing. The hike will be suitable for all skill levels and ages- everyone is welcome!
