The Metcalfe Farmer's Market
Hosted every Saturday between May 3rd and October 18th, 8am - 12pm.
Vendors sell produce, fresh berries, baked goods and homemade crafts and artistry. A family event including activities for kids. It's a wonderful way to get your Saturday morning started!!

The Ottawa Farmer's Market
Thursdays 2pm - 7pm until October 38h and Sundays 8 am - 3 pm until November 22nd.
Relocated for the duration of the Super Ex to Sylvia Holden Park.
Most of the regular vendors will be there to serve you the fresh vegetables, fruits, baking, meats, cheeses, honey and flowers that you have come to rely on each week

Feast of Fields brings together local farmers and chefs from Ottawa's best restaurants for a full day of wholesome local food, educational activities, and fun. The event attracts individuals and families who love quality food and the outdoors, care about the environment, and are making informed decisions about the products and services they use every day. Over 25 top restaurants and farmers will team up under the trees in Vincent Massey Park on a beautiful fall day.

Pedalling to Parliament - "Pedal for the Planet" hits Ottawa
Tuesday, September 15
12:15 - 1 pm: Pedal for the Planet Rally on Parliament Hill. Join the rally to call for action on climate change. Welcome Pedal for the Planet riders as they converge on Parliament Hill, riding from cities across Canada. Bring your bike, and cheer on the riders!
1 - 2 pm: Pedal for the Planet Ride: From Canada to Copenhagen. Climate cycling tour starts on Parliament Hill, 1 pm. Join the search for Canada's missing climate action plan. The ride is a virtual world tour from embassy to embassy, searching for clues for climate action. We will relay our findings to members of the Environment Committee who are debating Bill C-311, the Copenhagen climate bill. Let's help Members of Parliament design a climate action plan for Canada.
7 pm: Pedal for the Planet Celebration with Marabou at the Rainbow Bistro, 76 Murray Street (doors open at 6:30 pm).

Eastern Ontario Agri-Tour

September 19 & 20, 10 am to 4:30 pm
Agri-Tour invites you and your family to visit some of the unique farms of Eastern Ontario (The Lower Ottawa Valley). Rain or shine Agri-Tour will take place on September 12-13 and 19-20. Farmers welcome you to open house visits from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Renew your acquaintance with the rural roads of our region while enjoying speciality foods and products. Road signs will help you find your way to each farm. A modest entrance fee is charged at each farm.
Bring a cooler to keep those products fresh until you get home.
N.B. Dogs are not permitted on site.

NCVA Vegan Potluck

Each person should bring a VEGAN dish (with ingredient list) that serves between 10-12, as well as your own plate, cutlery, and beverage. Also, please bring a serving utensil for your dish.
Admission is $1 for NCVA members, and $3 for non-members to cover facility rental. Please note: Everyone is welcome, whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or non-vegetarian, but please ensure that the dish you bring is free of animal products- that includes any animal flesh, eggs, dairy/cheese, honey, etc.

Tucker House 2nd annual Green Gala

Tucker House, 1731 Tucker Road, Rockland
This special event will create awareness about Tucker House within the community, engage volunteers and supporters, and is an important method of fundraising. While touring the historic house, guests in vintage cocktail attire will be invited to bid on interesting ecological items in both silent and live auctions.

Sierra Club Peak Oil Discussion Group

Choosing our Future Event Week
September 22 - 26, 2009
The City of Ottawa, City of Gatineau and National Capital Commission invite you to participate in an important initiative that will help shape a sustainable future for our communities. Choosing our Future is a unique project that asks residents to work collectively to help develop a long-term vision and action plan for our region. Between September 22 and 26, the Choosing our Future Event Week will feature several events and activities, including "Sutainability 101"; "A Climate for Change" (an updated and locally adapted version of An Inconvenient Truth); "Student Action for Sustainability" and a "Futures Forum".

Lantern-lit storytelling walk to celebrate the Rideau shoreline in Old Ottawa East
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 (Raindate October 3rd) 7-8:30pm
Location: Springhurst Avenue & Clegg Street (starts at either end)
The walk will start at either end and plan to spend about 40 minutes along the way with musicians, storytellers and poets, jugglers, an ecological interpreter, and some of the Oblate priests from Deschatelets. The walk will end just past Springhurst Park with drumming by Samba Ottawa, more storytelling, and a marshmallow roast. Bring a lantern if you have one, or a flashlight (No headlamps please!). The event is hosted by Sustainable Living Ottawa East and sponsored by Mountain Equipment Coop to promote connection to and stewardship of the shoreline.

Jane's Walk Fall Walking Tours

Jane's Walk is a coordinated series of free neighbourhood walking tours given by locals who care passionately about where they live, work and play. Join your friends and neighbours as they explore the Ottawa neighbourhoods of Little Italy (with Luciano Pradal), Old Ottawa South (with Brendan McCoy), Hintonburg (with Sgt. Jean Lamothe) and Lebreton Flats (with Phil Jenkins) on foot in this fundraiser for the spring series of Jane's Walk coordinated by Imagine Ottawa and City Repair Ottawa. The suggested donation is $5.00 per walk.

Riverkeeper Fall Paddle and Garbage Pick-Up
Saturday 27 September 2008 from 10am to 3pm at Kettle Island
Join Riverkeeper in cleaning up Kettle Island, situated in the Ottawa River. It is beautiful - and badly in need of stewardship and care. Those with canoes/kayaks can check in at Kettle Island; those without transportation can meet in Gatineau (at Parc Sanscartier) or Ottawa (at the Ottawa New Edinburg Club) and take advantage of the shuttle service to the island. Learn low-to-no cost ways to save on your household energy bills and lower your GHG emissions!  Seventh Generation Community Projects, working in collaboration with Ecology Ottawa will be hosting a seminar about low-to-no-cost ways to decrease your household environmental footprint as well as save money! Seminars are targeting Ottawa residents who would like to make that initial step towards living in a more environmentally sustainable household, but are overwhelmed with information on where and how to get started. Our seminar will explain how lowering your GHG emissions actually saves you money, with little to no cost.
