Ottawa's festivals getting greener
Survey shows most festivals taking steps to minimize eco-footprint
December 4, 2008 Many
Ottawa festivals are taking steps to reduce the waste, air pollution,
greenhouse gas emissions, and other environmental effects associated
with their events, according to a report released today by Ecology
Ottawa.
Greening Ottawa’s Festivals: A Survey Report
summarizes the results of a survey sent by Ecology Ottawa to 14 major
local festivals. The report details results from the Ottawa
International Writers Festival, Ottawa Folk Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest,
Lumière Festival, HOPE VolleyBall SummerFest, and Ottawa International
Jazz Festival.
About Ecology
Ottawa: We are a not-for-profit, grassroots organization working to
make Ottawa the green capital of Canada. We believe that Ottawa
residents are concerned about issues such as pollution, waste, and
global warming, and that they want sustainable communities where public
transit, renewable energy, recycling, and the protection of green
spaces take priority. We are working with residents and organizations
across the city to ensure that these concerns are heard at city hall.
