Council Member

I am Nour Harb, a passionate 16-year-old dedicated to nature and environmental preservation. The state of our environment is very important to me, and I am eager to take action. I currently attend École secondaire publique Gisèle-Lalonde in Orléans, where I have been an active member of the Student Council for three years and continue to participate in ecological committees. In addition to my school involvement, I am a student trustee at the Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario (CEPEO) and serve as the vice-president of the Student Senate within my school board. I am excited to be part of the EcoYouth Ottawa community, where I can engage with fellow student leaders who share my commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Makenze

I am a third year uOttawa student majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Political Science. As a member of Eco Youth Ottawa, one of the topics I will address is environmental justice: when the burden of environmental issues is unequally distributed across demographics (e.g. race and class). I have worked as a policy analyst, political researcher, project manager, scriptwriter, social media manager, and a video editor for New North Carolina Project (NNCP) and New North Carolina Project Action First (NNCPAF). Through my work, I fulfilled my team’s mission of centering political conversations around communities of Color in North Carolina and expanding the engaged electorate.

Kaamil

Council Member

Kaamil is a Junior Council Member. He’s passionate about the environment and keen to be part of the solution to the climate crisis. The only thing he loves more than learning about nature is sharing information and discussing current issues with like-minded people.

Kenzie

Council Member

I'm Kenzie, currently studying Environmental Sciences at the University of Ottawa with a focus on conservation and biodiversity. I have a few years of experience in sustainable project management and am the Coordinator of the Sustainability Centre within the student union, where I promote eco-friendly alternatives and sustainable living. Growing up in Prince Edward Island sparked my passion for climate change, and I love bringing that passion into student life. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and getting creative.

Hello, my name is Romaissaa. I am a high school student who joined the EcoYouth program to learn more about the environment and how we can help preserve it. This was also a great opportunity to help educate others on the climate crisis we are currently facing. Thanks to this program, I can foster a conscious community regarding climate change and related matters.

Dana

Council Member

My name is Dana and I'm a fourth-year student pursuing a BA in Environmental studies with a minor in Indigenous studies at the University of Ottawa. A fun fact about me is that I've studied glaciers in Iceland. Through the co-op program, I've had the opportunity to work on the Indigenous engagement team of the Greener Homes division at Natural Resources Canada. I am excited to be starting a position as a student researcher/policy analyst for the Net Zero Carbon Advisory at Environment and Climate Change Canada this fall. My community involvement has included co-chairing the climate working group of the Indigenous Leadership Action Team (ILAT) in partnership with the Kawartha World Issues Centre (KWIC) and GreenUP; being a youth member of the Peterborough Environmental Advisory Committee; successfully petitioning city council twice; and co-organizing a city-wide youth climate rally. Most recently, I've joined the uOttawa Sustainability Caucus and Women's Sustainability Network (WESNO). I am passionate about equality and the environment and look forward to engaging in climate activism and community here in Ottawa!

Hi, I’m Yasmine! I am a recent bilingual university graduate in Environmental Economics and Public Policy, based in Ottawa, originally from Toronto! I am super excited and grateful to be a part of EcoYouth! I find that although young people can often be the most outspoken when it comes to environmental issues and policies, it can be hard for us to measure our impact and make sure our voices are heard! Ecology Ottawa providing us with a platform and a space to discuss and learn is such an essential part of shaping my environmental advocacy! I, for one, can’t wait to do a deep dive on issues related to urban studies and living cities, which I know Ecology Ottawa has a large profile on!

Hello! My name is Maggie and I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biology at Carleton University where I recently completed my Bachelor's in Environmental Science. As I embark on this exciting new chapter, I'm thrilled to continue expanding my knowledge and contributing to the field of environmental conservation. My professional path has predominantly been with the Government of Canada, where I've had the opportunity to serve in several impactful roles. I have worked with the National Capital Commission and Public Services and Procurement Canada, but I am currently working with Environment and Climate Change Canada as a Junior Wildlife Biologist. Throughout my education and work experience, I have built strong research, problem solving and data analysis skills. I am passionate about continuous learning and value the integration of innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in conservation and environmental management.

Hi, my name is Eyinojuoluwa, and I'm a third-year student at the University of Ottawa studying International development and globalization. I have an interest in sustainable development and project management. As a Youth Council member, I hope to encourage environmental awareness and action, especially through community engagement.

Aanii, Hello, Bonjour,

My name is Aiyana and I am a recent graduate from Carleton university, with a BA in Environmental Studies - Honours and a minor in Biology. I am of Ojibwe and Bajan (Barbados) heritage and my community is M’Chigeeng First Nation. Currently, I work with the Native Women’s Association of Canada, conducting research in the Environment Unit. I am excited to be a part of EcoYouth! I look forward to creating positive impact within the Ottawa region, and most importantly, learn more about how to be an environmental leader in my community!

Hello! I’m Lily and I’m currently in my senior year of high school at Earl of March. In my sophomore year of high school, I joined an environmentalism club which helped me realize my passion for environmentalism and nature as a whole. Joining the EcoYouth program has helped me not just to learn more but also to help with the current climate crisis. During my free time I like to go on hikes, bullet journal or read.
