Ecology Ottawa Board of Directors - Call for Applications

Ecology Ottawa is inviting interested people to join our volunteer Board of Directors. At this point in time, we are looking for people with a strong interest in environmental issues and those who can provide skills or expertise that will help support our organization in financial, legal and governance matters, and in advancing equity.

Who we are

Ecology Ottawa is a not-for-profit, grassroots organization seeking to impact existing and emerging environmental issues that affect the urban, suburban and rural areas of our city. This is an exciting time for Ottawa as a new term of City Council begins later in 2022. Many challenges are on the horizon, and Ecology Ottawa is well-positioned to help bring about needed change.

Ecology Ottawa is a recognized leader in advocacy and community engagement. We work to hold the City of Ottawa accountable for inadequate environmental policies and practice, and to offer concrete solutions to improve both. We rely on collaboration with partners and volunteers to realize our programs and to counter climate change.

Ecology Ottawa was born out of the belief that people of all backgrounds and in all neighbourhoods care about the environment. As a leading organization within Ottawa's environmental community that works with partners across sectors, we understand that diversity, equity, and inclusion are core to our continuing collective impact. Ecology Ottawa is committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in all our work.

While we invite all interested candidates to apply, to ensure the best possible decision-making environment, and to reflect the population of Ottawa, importance will be given to ensure a diverse Board. We welcome applications from Indigenous people, racialized people, people with disabilities, members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community,  women and/or non-binary people, youth (between 18–34),  and members of the francophone community. At this time, we are looking for people based in the National Capital Region.
