A Climate Equity Workshop

Your say. Your neighbourhood. Your city. Your planet.

Ottawa is undergoing significant development, with a commitment of 151,000 new housing units by 2031. In Ottawa, 45% of our emissions come from buildings. Ottawans are experiencing climate change now, and equity-deserving communities are disproportionately impacted. These same communities have historically been absent or underrepresented from the urban planning and development process. We have a significant opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while addressing affordability of new builds—while also empowering equity-deserving communities to contribute to the development process. Our Climate Equity project aims to seize this opportunity for impact, directly addressing the long standing imbalance of participation in the urban planning and development process, and the need to empower all communities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Join us Wednesday, August 27th at 6:00 pm for a workshop on climate equity

Together, we’ll explore:

  • What climate equity means
  • How buildings contribute to greenhouse gas emissions—and what we can do about it
  • How the development process works—and the key moments when you can step in and influence decisions
  • Our project—and how to get involved

You’ll leave feeling more informed and empowered to have your say in your neighbourhood, your city, your planet.

**Please note, this workshop will be recorded in order to reach individuals who are unable to attend.**
