Planning and Housing

"The Planning and Housing Committee is responsible for overseeing all development and planning within the urban boundary in accordance with the City’s Official Plan including zoning designations, community planning and site design requirements. The Committee is also responsible for the City’s housing strategy, including affordable and transit-oriented development, community housing capital planning, and other related housing policy initiatives." - City of Ottawa

The way a city uses land has significant implications on the overall environmental impact of a city. If well designed and planned, a city can encourage significant emissions reductions through increased livability, walkability, intensification, green space implementation, and much more. Along with the Environment and Climate Change Committee, this committee has some of the most significant environmental impacts in Ottawa.
