I take public transit and have been doing so for decades. There were many changes to the system with the launch of the LRT that reduced OC Transpo’s reliability and made it nearly impossible to attract and retain ridership. The east end has historically had the highest number of transit users compared to other areas of Ottawa. To get those numbers back, OC Transpo needs to provide convenient service that gets riders where they need to go and runs frequently during peak periods. Rather than focusing predominately on funneling riders from suburban communities to the core, improving local routes will be required to ensure that transit is a truly viable option.
