FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Ottawa, ON — Ecology Ottawa today announced the newest cohort of its EcoYouth Council. In its third year, Ecology Ottawa’s EcoYouth program seeks to engage youth in local environmental solutions, listening to and respecting their knowledge and perspectives. It facilitates the deepening of their knowledge about environmental issues and solutions in Ottawa, and seeks to meaningfully work out justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion through all their activities.
On October 26, 2026, voters across Ontario will elect their city councils, mayors, and school board officials for the next 4 years. Municipal governments in Ontario are responsible for a majority of the services and infrastructure that you encounter in your daily life. Many of these responsibilities can have huge impacts on our carbon footprint and climate resiliency, such as public transit, waste management, water and sewage, local zoning rules, and infrastructure to mention just a few.
Ecology Ottawa today launched its initiative to promote ecology in the 2026 municipal election. Like all Ontarians, Ottawans elect a new City Council and mayor on October 26, and as candidates knock on doors, attend events, and hold town halls, Ecology Ottawa is working to advance ecological issues.
