Tree species included; red maple, yellow birch, white pine, bitternut hickory, black walnut, bur oak, tamarak, white spruce, poplar, and ironwood.

The group recognized that planting saplings would have the challenge of being torn-up by unfriendly hands or suffering a sporting accident from a soccer ball or enthusiastic soccer player. So, looking around they noticed fallen down snow fencing from previous projects. They removed fencing and t-bars from the shrubs and fence-row and after the saplings were planted, the fencing was erected.

The next phase of planting will include additional trees on the Heron Road side of the green area, with special attention paid to storm water runoff.
