After a long delay, the City of Ottawa is finally following through with its commitment to prepare a Water Environment Strategy (WES). This will be Ottawa’s overall framework to protect and enhance the health of our water. The process for preparing the WES began in March of this year.
As part of its first phase, the City recently announced its intention to hold a Water Roundtable on Saturday, June 14th, that will bring together hundreds of residents from across the City who care about the health of our watersheds, as well as the ways in which we are managing stormwater and water resources. We encourage you, and any other interested parties to attend the roundtable, where there will be opportunities for the public delegation to share their opinions and concerns with city staff.
If you are interested in participating, contact your City Councillor (these websites will help direct you to their contact information: http://app01.ottawa.ca/wardlookup/wardSearch.jsf?lang=en, http://ottawa.ca/en/city-council). Each Councillor will submit a list of 10 names from their ward for the event. The deadline for registration is MAY 23rd, 2014, so please don't delay!!!
I encourage you to contact me with any questions you may have, or to receive more information.
