Permeable Pavement & Driveways - Green Infrastructure Options

Wednesday, 12 November 2014 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Find out the alternatives to asphalt for your driveway and pathways.

The Problem: Stormwater runoff from your roof, driveway and other hard surfaces in your yard is typically directed towards the street and into the municipal storm sewer system. This stormwater runoff, which has picked up harmful substances such as road salt, heavy metals and oils, ends up in the Ottawa River, where it can harm water quality and aquatic habitat.

Solutions: Green infrastructure practices maintain or restore stormwater's natural flow pattern by allowing the water to slowly permeate into the ground and be used by plants. These practices include rain gardens, green roofs and permeable driveways and paths.

The people sharing their knowledge with us this evening are:

  • Jose Aguilera, CEO, Fractal Tectonics Ltd.

The event is organized and hosted by the Environment Committee of the Glebe Community Association. Some snacks will be provided.
