Seven upcoming events you won’t want to miss! April is going to be huge.

Whether it’s celebrating Earth Day, getting answers from politicians on climate change, marching in Quebec City, promoting cycling and trees in Ottawa, or pushing for environmental leadership in this year’s federal election, April is going to be a huge, huge, huge month. Here are seven upcoming events that will let you take advantage of the thaw and spring into action.

It’s Time to Organize for Election 2015! (April 7 at 6pm)

Do you want environmental leadership from your federal government? If so, now is the time to get involved. There are areas of Ottawa that will be fiercely contested and closely watched in the upcoming election and people who care about the environment need be organizing in those areas. You CAN make a difference! Ecology Ottawa is holding a 2015 Election Team meeting on April 7 for people who want to promote environmental leadership at the federal level. Join us and RSVP here. 

Unprecedented Meeting on Climate Change in the Riding of Ottawa-Vanier! (April 9 at 7pm)

Ecology Ottawa is bringing together under one roof the Member of Parliament, Member of Provincial Parliament and all three city councillors representing the riding of Ottawa-Vanier to answer the question: "What is your level of our government going to do about the challenge of climate change and what will your role be as our representative?" You are invited to attend, ask questions, and make your voice heard. Please RSVP here.

Get on the Bus for the Act on Climate March in Quebec City! (April 11, ALL DAY)

Join thousands of people who will make a historic trek to Quebec City on April 11 to demand that our leaders Act on Climate! Ecology Ottawa, along with the Council of Canadians, 350 Ottawa, Climate Reality Canada, and Greenpeace Ottawa, are organizing buses from Ottawa to Quebec City leaving and returning on Saturday the 11th. 100% Renewable Ottawa! How Do we Get There? What Will it Look Like? (April 14 at 7:30pm)

Organized by the Environment Committee of the Glebe Community Association, and featuring the new Chair of the City of Ottawa’s Environment Committee, Councillor David Chernushenko, this is a community discussion of local development strategies for an Ottawa-centred shift to renewable energy. Earth Day Tree Ottawa Event Featuring Ed Lawrence! (April 22nd at 7pm)

This Earth Day, Ecology Ottawa and RBC are hosting a special event to share the work of Tree Ottawa and discuss the importance of trees in our city. We are very excited to have Ed Lawrence joining us as our featured speaker. Throughout his career Ed was head gardener to six Canadian Governors General and Prime Ministers, and can be heard weekly on CBC Radio's Ontario Today. Other guests will be joining us to share their expertise on how we can pull together as a community and protect, plant, and promote Ottawa's trees for generations to come! Please RSVP here.

There are only about 200 days left before the next federal election (if it is not called early), so make every day count. This year’s federal election will help shape the City of Ottawa and the future of Canada.
