Election work update

Spring is in the air. At Ecology Ottawa, that means it's prime time to talk to people at the door about promoting environmental leadership in the city. We know that federal action on climate change, light rail, the Ottawa River and stopping the Energy East tar sands pipeline would go a long way to making Ottawa a more sustainable city. That’s why Ecology Ottawa sees this election as a unique opportunity to promote environmental leadership in the city.

Our election efforts are focused on phone and direct contact with the residents of Ottawa. Our phone team is now meeting five times per week – Mondays at 10:00am, and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. In a couple of weeks, we will also kick off our ground canvass program, where we go door to door and talk to people about the environmental issues that matter to them. We are also organizing fundraising events in order to help pay for this important work.

A volunteer commitment of as little as three hours per week can make a real difference for the environment in this election. If you’d like to get involved in any of these areas or find out more, please contact Robb Barnes at [email protected]
