Rideau Valley Conservation Authority has planted their Five millionth tree!

On May 28, 2015 Rideau Valley Conservation Authority were in celebration of planting their five millionth tree since 1983.There has also been 240,000 new seedlings planted this spring along the 4,000 square kilometres of watershed that links from South Frontenac County to the City of Ottawa. The RVCA celebrated this milestone along with its funding, administrative and planting partners, as well as the community.

A memorial tree was planted alongide other local conservation achievements in the RVCA’s Memory Lane. Over $4.7 million has been raised to support tree planting since 1983. Most of this funding has come about from the dedication of the Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation. Evidently, the total amount of the conservation effort was over 8.3 million. This money included landowner donations to reforest the over 21 square kilometres of land being transformed into a living, breathing watershed.
