Calling all tree enthusiasts! Tree Ottawa is looking for volunteers to help spread the word about Tree Ottawa at The 22nd annual Tim Horton’s Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival on June 25, 26, 27 and 28. Tree Ottawa will be at the Dragon Boat festival all four days encouraging people to sign the Tree Petition and talking about forest management within Ottawa.
The Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival was the first festival in North America to go carbon neutral in 2005. Equally as impressive is that they were also the first Ecologo certified festival in the entire world under the Ecologo event standards. The Dragon boat festival is committed to keeping the festival as green as possible and Tree Ottawa is committed to help event attendees to do the same in their own lives.
Tree Ottawa is looking for volunteers to engage in conversation with event attendees and promote Trees. We’re looking for volunteers who are good with people, know a bit about trees and are interested in having a great time with the Tree Ottawa team at one of the best (and Greenest) events that Ottawa has to offer.

Members of ECCC invited to webinar on incineration
On April 8, we invited members of City Council’s Environment and Climate Change Committee (ECCC) to attend a webinar on incineration. This webinar is timely: Council is considering incineration as an option for dealing with Ottawa’s waste, since staff has warned Council that the Trail Road Landfill—which currently receives the majority of Ottawans’ garbage—will fill up soon.
