(Ottawa) October 13, 2015: A new poll of voting intentions in the ridings of Kanata-Carleton and Nepean, conducted by Environics Research and commissioned by Leadnow and Ecology Ottawa, suggests that the Liberals have pulled into the lead in the ridings of Kanata-Carleton and Nepean.
“These ridings have turned into a close race between the Liberals and the Conservatives,” said Graham Saul, Executive Director of Ecology Ottawa. “These are areas that voted Conservative by huge margins in the 2011 election, so the poll results are striking."
The poll was conducted using Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology, and findings were weighted by age and gender to reflect the demographic makeup of the electorate. The results for Kanata-Carleton and Nepean are as follows:
In the riding of Kanata-Carleton:
Liberal Party: 50% Conservative Party 39% New Democratic Party: 8% Green Party: 3% Field Dates: Oct. 9-11 Sample size: 861 Margin of Error: 3.4% 19 times out of 20.
In the riding of Nepean:
Liberal Party 47% Conservative Party: 40% New Democratic Party 10% Green Party 4% Field Dates: Oct. 9-11 Sample size: 1,032 Margin of Error: 3.2% 19 times out of 20
This is the third public opinion poll that has focused specifically on the riding of Kanata-Carleton. Members of ECCC invited to webinar on incineration
On April 8, we invited members of City Council’s Environment and Climate Change Committee (ECCC) to attend a webinar on incineration. This webinar is timely: Council is considering incineration as an option for dealing with Ottawa’s waste, since staff has warned Council that the Trail Road Landfill—which currently receives the majority of Ottawans’ garbage—will fill up soon.
