Ever wanted to know more about different types of trees? Want to learn how to tell whether a tree is healthy or not? What about learning how to map trees? If you answered yes to any of these, this is the event for you!
Dr. Andy Kenney and Forester Astrid Nielsen will be leading a workshop on how to identify trees, assess tree health, and map trees in Champlain Park. Not only will you learn all about the vast number of trees surrounding the area, but also the economics of trees in terms of energy conversation, storm water filtered, air quality filtration and carbon dioxide removal.
Interested? You should be! This workshop is sponsored by the Champlain Park Community Association and neighbourhood groups. In attending, you will be helping develop the forest ever tree inventory for Champlain Park! All are welcomed, no experience required. The workshop sessions are as followed:
Friday, June 3rd 7:00pm-8:30pm: introduction and overview
Saturday, June 4th 8:00am-4:00pm: field practice and hands-on learning
Sunday June 5th 9:00am-3:00pm: field practice and hands-on learning
Please note you must be able to make it for at least 80% off the full workshop. The meeting location is at Champlain Park Fieldhouse in Westboro (Cowley and Clearview).
Registration is $20.00, and covers the cost of refreshments and an exciting field manual. There are only 25 spots available, so register as soon as you can!
