On Wednesday, February 22 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy (3 boulevard du Casino, Gatineau), the National Energy Board (NEB) Modernization Panel will be in town to hear ideas on how the NEB can be improved.
For years, the viability of the NEB - the federal regulator tasked with overseeing interprovincial or international energy projects - has been in serious doubt. The NEB was gutted under the Harper government, and remains severely weakened today even as it has started reviews of major energy projects such as the proposed Energy East pipeline.

Members of ECCC invited to webinar on incineration
On April 8, we invited members of City Council’s Environment and Climate Change Committee (ECCC) to attend a webinar on incineration. This webinar is timely: Council is considering incineration as an option for dealing with Ottawa’s waste, since staff has warned Council that the Trail Road Landfill—which currently receives the majority of Ottawans’ garbage—will fill up soon.
