Dearest Tree Ottawa supporters,
Thank you for your tremendous support of Ecology Ottawa over the years, especially our Tree Ottawa campaign. This summer, we would like to invite you to our Tree Ottawa Summer Fundraiser on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
Since 2014, in the wake of the Emerald Ash Borer crisis, you have been working tirelessly with Tree Ottawa to build a movement of thousands of Ottawans who care about a healthy urban forest and are ready to stand up for trees. For the last three years, Tree Ottawa supporters like you have engaged citizens and mobilized communities to plant a million trees and strengthen our urban tree canopy. In 2017, your support is more meaningful than ever, as we embark on an unprecedented effort to give away thousands of trees across Ottawa and see the passage of a strong, long-term Urban Forest Management Plan at City Hall.
On June 22, 2017, Ecology Ottawa cordially invites our dearest supporters, collaborators, and ambassadors to the Tree Ottawa Summer Fundraiser, where we celebrate the excellent work by communities and volunteer teams across Ottawa towards a healthier urban forest and raise funds for the current and future Tree Ottawa initiatives. You will hear from dedicated volunteer leaders and supporters, as well as the co-founder and lead strategist of Tree Ottawa, Chris Henderson.
The Tree Ottawa Summer Fundraiser is a reception with snacks and drinks, and there is no cost to attend. It is a fundraiser however, so we encourage you to invite your friends, family, coworkers and neighbours who might be interested in Ecology Ottawa’s work.

Members of ECCC invited to webinar on incineration
On April 8, we invited members of City Council’s Environment and Climate Change Committee (ECCC) to attend a webinar on incineration. This webinar is timely: Council is considering incineration as an option for dealing with Ottawa’s waste, since staff has warned Council that the Trail Road Landfill—which currently receives the majority of Ottawans’ garbage—will fill up soon.
