Trees make communities better. With that in mind, Ottawa Community Housing recently partnered with Ecology Ottawa to do a tree planting in two neighbourhoods in the city. With the help of a whole bunch of awesome volunteers we were able to plant 20 trees in each neighbourhood!  The trees planted included lilacs, crab apples, ornamental pear, maples, and more. We acquired the trees with generous help from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.

On June 1st we went to Blohm Community and had help from the amazing volunteers from Genband! Thanks to all of them for taking a day to help us plant these trees! It was a beautiful day for planting trees, and I know we all had a great time. Councillor Diane Deans also came by for the event, thanks for coming by!

Subsequently, on June 8th we went to the Debra Dines Community and got a hand from the great volunteers from Export Developments Canada! Once again, thanks to all of you that came out and helped get these trees in the ground! It was great fun planting all those trees, and thanks to Councillor Riley Brockington for coming out for the event.

We hope the communities enjoy the new greenery in their neighbourhoods! Thanks again to Ottawa Community Housing for partnering with us and TB Friends of the Environment Foundation for helping us get the trees! You’re helping to make Ottawa even greener.
