Common doctor prescriptions include painkillers, ointments, sometimes specific medical instruments. But what about actual visits to parks?
Nicknamed "ParkRx," doctors in South Dakota are now legally entitled to write park prescriptions, which instruct patients to take "one free day at any South Dakota state park or recreational area."
South Dakota's Department of Health and South Dakota Game, Fish and Park are the duo running this new prescription program. Healthcare providers are able to sign up online from all over.
Exercise is crucial to remaining in good health. The additional benefit of going out into nature is an added bonus, encouraging citizens to appreciate the outdoors and help connect their own wellbeing to nature. It's a fun, relaxing way to remain in good health and help bolster good spirits!

Members of ECCC invited to webinar on incineration
On April 8, we invited members of City Council’s Environment and Climate Change Committee (ECCC) to attend a webinar on incineration. This webinar is timely: Council is considering incineration as an option for dealing with Ottawa’s waste, since staff has warned Council that the Trail Road Landfill—which currently receives the majority of Ottawans’ garbage—will fill up soon.
