View and share your electricity data through Ontario’s Green Button initiative.

Access to smart meter data—and the ability to share that data with innovative applications, products, services, and solutions—can help Ottawa households and businesses conserve energy and better manage their electricity bills. Click here for information on participating utilities and solution providers.

The Green Button initiative was inspired by a similar movement in the U.S to provide utility customers with easy and secure access to their energy usage information in a consumer-friendly and computer-friendly format. The province of Ontario saw this as an opportunity to leverage their investment in smart meters for greater energy conservation and economic growth.

Here's how it works:

Sign in to your personal utility account and look for an option to download your data, or contact your utility for more information on data access. Here is the list of participating utilities:

Note: Though the province of Ontario is the catalyst for the Green Button initiative, they do not provide much direct support. Once you have made contact with your utility and found access to your data, browse this list of third-party applications and services and contact them directly: Join our mailing list for updates on similar opportunities: http://ecologyottawa.net/consent/
