As we speak, the mayor and councillors of the City of Ottawa are choosing which programs to fund and which to cut in this year’s municipal budget. Budget time (right now!) is when cities like Ottawa have the most power to make a difference. There is a narrow window of time for us to influence these decisions, and that’s what we’ll tell you about here!
There are two very important programs that need strong community backing as they sit on the budgeting table for the City of Ottawa: Energy Evolution, which will help us respond to the climate emergency by cutting emissions city-wide, and the Urban Tree Conservation Bylaw, which will help Ottawa adapt to climate impacts while making it a better place to call home.
