8 May 2025

OTTAWA | TRADITIONAL TERRITORY OF THE ALGONQUIN ANISHINAABEG — Ecology Ottawa today announced the recipients of its 2025 Eco Awards.

“We’re thrilled to honour these nine recipients who inspire ecological action in our city,” said Executive Director William van Geest. “Ottawa is unusually blessed with an outstanding natural heritage and individuals dedicated to preserving it, and it’s critical to acknowledge this.”

The recipients are honoured for a variety of categories, ranging from Climate Champion to Most Cherished Greenspace, and Youth Eco Champion to Refuse-Reduce-Reuse Champion.

“The submissions for this year's awards demonstrate the Ottawa community’s dedication to creative solutions for navigating the climate crisis,” said Dara Wawatie-Chabot, a 2024 Eco Award recipient and a member of the 2025 selection committee.

“From supporting pollinators, to growing food without harmful chemicals, to implementing substantial policy and framework changes in healthcare, the nominees proved that everyone can play a role in advancing environmental adaptation strategies,” continued Wawatie-Chabot.

The recipients are as follows:
