Tree Fest Ottawa as well as Forest without Borders is pleased to announce and evening of remarkable short films about the power of trees. The renowned botanist, biochemist and author, Diana Beresford-Kroeger will also be a guest speaker. It will be held in the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa on Tuesday October 6, 2015 from 6:30-9:30pm.
Tree Fest Ottawa’s photography exhibit PhotoSynthesis is on display at The Civic Gardens, Lansdowne Park until October 12, 2015. On Sunday October 4, from 2-4pm Cadenza String Duo will be performing an outdoor concert featuring classical cello and violin near the photography exhibit.
Cellist Greg Weeks will be performing with a cello made by Ottawa instrument craftsperson,Guy Harrison. Guy Harrison has over 20 years of experience producing high quality modern concert violins, violas and cellos. His work with wood is highlighted in the PhotoSynthesis photography exhibit. Harrison will be present at the performance on Sunday to answer questions from the audience about his craft.
On Monday, September 14th over 55 people either walked or cycled along Sherbourne Road marking down their observations and suggestions for improvement as part of the Sherbourne road cycling and walkability audit. The Ottawa community has many people of all ages and abilities who care!

Images and stories have the power to change the world. 
Tree Fest Ottawa is using that power to inspire people to take action to protect the trees in our environment.
A local initiative to create space to celebrate not just trees, but how trees affect our lives. This is a multi-year vision that is hoping to scale up to a full blown Festival! Step one: photo exhibit, tell stories, plant a seed of passion, and watch it grow.
On October 2nd, come out with long time Tree Ottawa Champion supporter and tree educator Owen Clarkin for a guided tour of the different types of trees in the Glebe neighbourhood.
Owen is a noteworthy supporter of Tree Ottawa by agreeing to be a Tree Ottawa Champion. He is the current Chair of the Ottawa Field-Naturalists Club and has an interest in the history of trees.
It's tree planting season again, and Tree Ottawa is helping Convent Glen/Orleans Wood re-plant Mystery Park!
Like so many of Ottawa's greenspaces, Mystery Park has been hit hard by the Emerald Ash Borer. With over 25% of the trees in this park being Ash, the City of Ottawa had to clear-cut the whole area. This is an amazing opportunity for us to re-plant and protect the future of our greenspace. One park at a time!
St. Anthony Catholic School has a typical urban schoolyard. It is mostly crumbling pavement with a grove of mature trees in the middle, providing shade for the school’s 128 students.
In the mid-1990s, the school actually won an “Ugliest Schoolyard” contest, which gave them prize money with which to plant a few trees.
Some pavement is needed near the front gate in order to allow access for emergency vehicles, but the pavement wraps around to parts of the yard where vehicles will never go. Even the outside of the perimeter fence is paved, preventing flowers and plants from sprouting there.
Tree Ottawa is pleased to announce that we will be boothing at Canadian Organic Growers “Organic Picnic Palooza” for Organic Week in Ottawa.The event will be taking place at Brewer Park, 100 Brewer Park, Ottawa on Saturday September 26 from 11am to 2pm.
Come out for a picnic and bring your organic lunch, snacks, meals and "Picnic Palooza" will provide organic drinks for all guests. Sharing of snacks and food is promoted for this lovely outdoor event.
Over the last few weeks, a series of polls have been conducted within the city of Ottawa which have redefined the state of the electoral race in four local swing ridings. While some ridings appeared to have their future MP's pre-determined, other ridings looked like three-way races. With these recently released poll results, we can now say with more confidence that the race is a lot tighter in some of these key swing ridings than we initially thought. What the data is telling us is that some of these ridings could be won by a marginal number of votes!

The night ride begins at City Hall this Friday night September 25, 2015 at 5pm and ends at the renowned Experimental Farm.
