1. How will you improve service reliability, frequency, and affordability for OC Transpo, so that it offers an attractive city-wide alternative to private car use?

Ahmed Rashid

“I take the bus every day. I know what riders deal with. The fix starts with freezing fares, because OC Transpo's own staff said a freeze would bring back 300,000 rides. More riders means more revenue, and that revenue goes back into frequency and reliability. I will push for transit priority signals at Walkley, Heron, and Alta Vista so buses are not stuck in traffic, expand bus lanes, and hold the system to real service standards. A system people can count on is what gets them out of their cars.”

Donna Dickson

"Fight to bring back youth passes for OC Transpo, and fight for a freeze on transit fares. Too many families were affected by the decision to eliminate the youth passes, and riders are subject to annual fare increases. This needs to stop if we want to start building back the trust between OC Transpo, the city, and residents.

In addition to that, offering longer, more secure, and full time contracts to OC Transpo drivers. Right now many of the drivers are only allowed part time employment, which limits the availability on certain days and times. I would like to see OC Transpo increase service on major bus routes or to and from key areas of the city to one bus every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes to 1 hour during morning and evening rush hour. Peak transit for the city needs to be peak service times for our bus system as well."
