Tree Ottawa has been working with artist Jean Bridge surrounding the Canupy: Achilles Shadow art installation that is part of the Canadensis: Beyond the Edge Artists’ Garden installation at the Experimental Farms for the past two years. This art installation, composed of orphan trees that Jean and Tree Ottawa collected across Ottawa for the last two years, is coming to a close. We need your help to ensure that all of these trees go to new homes in your backyard. To see what Tree Ottawa and Canadensis have done in the past click here and here!
To mark the closing of the 2017 season of the Beyond the Edge Artists Gardens Ecology Ottawa has partnered with Canadensis and Landscape Architecture Ottawa to put together the Public Art and Design Bringing Nature to Urban Spaces Symposium. The event will be held this Saturday, Sept 16th from 10 am to noon, at the Heron Community Centre Amphitheatre (1480 Heron Road). This event, featuring four speakers, including Jean Bridge, Martha Lush, Ryan Longo, and Andrea Legge, will focus on innovative ways to bring nature back to urban spaces. Please find more information about the event here.
This September, the saplings that were part of this art installation are looking for a new home. If you have been looking for a larger tree than what Tree Ottawa has been giving away this summer, this is your chance. If you are interested in adopting one of these trees, you can pick it up at the large Red Barn in the Experimental Farms (map below) at any of the designated times listed below:
Sunday Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday Sept. 18 – Friday Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m
