Ecology Ottawa is running the Green Team at this year's Canadian Pacific Women's Open Golf Tournament! The Ladies Professional Golf Association will be teeing off late August at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club. Come join us to keep the grounds clean and green as thousands of fans gather to see the stars in action. We are looking for a group of committed volunteers to help make this week long event run without a hitch.
Summer is well in full swing, and so are we! The tree team continues our goal of giving out THOUSANDS of free trees this summer!
Here are all the events we'll be attending this weekend:
Saturday, July 15th:
8:30am-1pm: North Gower's Farmer's Market
11am-3pm: Terra20 Event (Westboro Location, 1304 Wellington Street West)
Sunday, July 16th:
9am-4pm: Ice Cream Festival (Agriculture and Food Museum, 901 Prince of Wales Dr)
There are several ways you can promote trees in Ottawa
1. Plant Trees
If you'd like to plant a tree (or trees) on your own property check out the Tree Nursery on this site for a listing of various suppliers. If you're specifically interested in a fruit tree, we recommend Hidden Harvest for a wide variety of trees available at modest cost. If you would like to put a tree in front of your house on city property, the City of Ottawa runs the Trees of Trust program.

With limited space, vertical forests are becoming more and more popular. And Italian architecture Stefano Boeri is leading the way.
Boeri has designed numerous buildings with heavy emphasis on incorporating greenery into the architecture. His buildings have incorporated real trees on multiple floor levels, creating both aesthetically pleasing, environmental sights for anyone who sees it in the distance.

Ecology Ottawa would like to thank everyone who participated at the Ottawa Park Summit, which took place on April 22nd, 2017. The event was a big success! We exceeded our expectations with 125 participants representing 78 organizations at the event. We talked about everything from community gardens and bake ovens to how the City of Ottawa is organized around parks, hearing from residents passionate about protecting their greenspace and enhancing their local parks.

Singapore is currently working on a 376 000 square foot landscaping project. But it's not like any other - it's a project that aims to construct Singapore's largest urban sanctuary. Named "Green Heart," the architecture blends together the environmental aspects with culture and economy.
Included in the designs are numerous reflection pools, waterfalls, and a multi-level public garden. Nicknamed "cloud forests," there are numerous additional plant beds that scale the walls to give the appearance of a forest that stretches up high above the ground, literally floating in the air to reach such amazing heights.
