“I want to give residents more opportunities to share ideas and participate in environmental decisions from the very start of projects. People know their neighborhoods well—their needs and the challenges they face every day.
The school street project at Trille des Bois School is a great example: parents suggested this idea to me in 2022, and it’s now a reality! This is the kind of collaboration I want to expand by reaching out to families, community organizations, and the voices we don’t hear as often.
Consultations must be accessible, in both French and English, and followed by clear feedback on the suggestions that are adopted and how they’re implemented. Participation should allow people to influence decisions and see the results of their involvement.”
