“Use better Urban architecture design choices to reduce concrete expanse and provide municipal tax break incentives to plant more trees on residential and private properties.”

“I want to develop mini-forests, of which we already have three in our neighborhood. These small, densely planted spaces feature a variety of native tree and shrub species. They help bring nature back to urban areas, even when space is limited, while creating habitats for biodiversity.
My goal is also to plant 200 trees to mark the 200th anniversary of the ByWard Market, focusing on areas that lack shade.
Preserving our tree cover also requires protecting mature trees and giving newly planted trees the means to survive: sufficient soil, adequate watering, and ongoing maintenance. Success should be measured by the trees that grow and provide shade, not just by the number of trees planted. »
