The evening, held at Ottawa City Hall, started off with snacks, drinks and several tables with information about different events and organizations within the Ottawa Region. The packed room felt more like a convivial wine and cheese than an environmental conference. While there were quite a few grey heads in the audience, there was a fair sprinkling of every demographic group.

They were not disappointed! There was laughter, there were tears, and there was a thunderous standing ovation.
The 2015 federal election is a critical opportunity to take a giant leap forward on environmental issues affecting Ottawa. Federal decisions impact everything from the health of our watersheds, to the strength of our response to climate change, to urban development issues like light rail.

The Complete Streets Implementation Framework comes before the Transportation Committee on October 7, 2015. Ottawa needs streets that provide safe and comfortable access for people of all ages, abilities and modes of travel – including pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and motorists. The adoption of this Framework will get us there faster.
Please come to the meeting at Ottawa City Hall October 7th at 9:30 am to tell the Transportation Committee that we need Complete Streets that let us walk and cycle more in Ottawa now.
Tree Ottawa is proud to announce that we are collaberating with a local artist for Nuit Blanche. Nuit Blanche is a annual fall event in Ottawa showcasing local artists displaying their works downtown from dusk until dawn. This year’s event takes place on Saturday Sept 19th from 7:20 pm to 4:20 am.
Local Artist, Gwen Frankton, is donating her work to help fundraise for Tree Ottawa. She has been deeply affected by of the “emerald ash borer” crisis destroying trees in the city and has created a beautiful installation of small paintings of trees. Each piece is remarkably detailed and she will be showcasing her work at The Rectory House at 310 St.Patrick Street in downtown Ottawa.

Ottawa Centre Ecodistrict will be having a follow up meeting Tuesday, September 22 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Ottawa City Hall in the Colonel By Room where participants and interested individuals are invited to give feedback on their ride and the state of observed cycling routes.

Yes it's 1 out of every 4 trees we see, but what does that really mean in the big picture? How will this effect Ottawa's tree canopy?
