As TransCanada Prepares to File Energy East Application, 90% of Ottawa City Council Candidates Prepared to Fight Project
OTTAWA – Nearly 90% of candidates for city council who responded to a survey put out by Ecology Ottawa say they would be prepared to fight the proposed Energy East pipeline if it posed a threat to the health of Ottawa’s environment, in addition to 80% who are calling for an independent environmental assessment. This survey comes as TransCanada prepares to file their application to build the controversial tar sands pipeline.

Orlando Park is a beautiful piece of green in the south end of the City. However, trees have been lost and soccer fields bake in the summer sun. A plan to naturalize a piece of this park and plant shade trees around the fields has taken root.

Tree Ottawa is a community-centered initiative for the Nation’s Capital to dramatically increase the scale and ecological diversity of the urban and rural tree canopy in Ottawa.
