Ecology Ottawa is looking for Interns to join a dynamic team. The Intern will be asked to perform three main tasks: participate in direct outreach; receive training; and conduct work on a special project that touches on one of Ecology Ottawa’s core campaign areas. Campaigns touch on rivers and streams, the urban tree canopy, municipal climate change strategy, complete streets, and stopping the Energy East tar sands pipeline. This position involves immersion in the tools and techniques of research, communications, event management, canvass organizing, volunteer management and data management.

All of Canada’s premiers are heading to Quebec City at that time to talk about climate. And so are we. We want to make sure our voices are heard, and send a unified message.
We want strong climate protections. We want renewable energy. What we don’t want is more tar sands or pipeline expansion, including Energy East.
The City of Ottawa is in the process of creating an action plan to develop the City’s suburbs, where 60% of development land occurs.

Sustain Lowertown is hosting its first Action Committee meeting! The Sustain Lowertown Action Committee will be a key group of local residents who will decide on key elements of the project and carry out concrete actions.
The Committee will be formed during the meeting. Membership is open to all residents and interested parties. The meeting will involve the development of a communication plan, finalizing priority themes, and a discussion of possible initiatives of 2015. All residents and interested parties are welcomed to attend the meeting.
