2014-2018 City Governance Review

The 2014-2018 City Governance Review will be voted on by City Council this Wednesday, December 3rd. Among the proposed changes, the number of meetings of the Environment Committee will be reduced from 12 to 8.

The Environment Committee is responsible for providing guidance and direction on issues relating to environmental services, community sustainability, storm-water management, solid waste management, utilities/water and wastewater, water pollution control, urban forestry, and open spaces.

Have you heard of GOT Parks? Get Out To (GOT) Parks is a joint initiative of the Canadian Parks Council and the Child & Nature Alliance of Canada. Their ultimate goal is to provide an online destination for young people to learn about Canada’s National, Provincial, and Territorial parks and to encourage Canada’s youth to get outside and experience parks firsthand!

Random Patterns- Photo Exhibit of Impact of Emerald Ash Borer

An exhibition of new works by Michael Ashley entitled, Random Patterns, which will be opening at La Petite Mort Gallery on Friday 28 November 2014 from 7-10 pm. The images in this collection are macro photographs of trees killed by the Emerald Ash Borer beetle and include an exploration of the patterns that are created by the beetle and how we see patterns.

Bronson Audit shows how unsafe walking can be!

A group of walkers hit Bronson this weekend to closely examine the walking, cycling and driving conditions on this thoroughfare between the 417 and the canal.

Utility poles, commercial driveways and the lack of a barrier between walker and vehicle, made participants feel unsafe as traffic hit speeds of 80 km/h passing very close to sidewalks.

Soup Ottawa: Micro-grant Participatory Dinner

Soup Ottawa is having an event this Wednesday night (6-9pm) at St. Anthony's Banquet Hall in Little Italy.

It's $10 to participate in a dinner event that grants local community projects in Ottawa.

The event will showcase a line-up of six amazing presenters, each with a unique and creative community project.

You'll have a chance to hear each of their pitches throughout the evening, and will get to vote for your favourite!
